Equine Green Certificate at GCC

GCC has established itself firmly as a leading provider of equine courses in the west as its course is now firmly established as a firm favourite for students who want to work in the horse industry. The course offers a blended approach to adult learning, suiting the student who is engaged in the horse industry as this daily experience is used as a tool in assessments. As well as the riding modules students study all aspects of young horse production and horse care aspects such as nutrition, fittening, and conformation analysis.

Young trained farmer status is received once the student has achieved the Level 6 equine course. Luckily for the students in GCC, equine course tutor Riona Finn is a Horse Sport Ireland (HSI ) level 2 coach and a British Horse society (BHS ) Accredited Professional Coach, which permits training in these additional qualifications. Students can work towards their teaching badges or their SJI jumping badges.

On graduation, most students access the many incentives available for young trained farmers. Others have travelled to the USA on grad visa while others take up positions as riders or grooms in Ireland and Europe.

Back to education grants and of course SUSI grants are available to GCC students which makes the opportunity to study equine all the more attractive. Contact Riona Finn at [email protected] if you want to discuss the course and what it offers.
