Over The Edge - the birthday edition

Literary reading series turns 18 with Kathryn Slattery, Ciaran O’Rourke, and Stephen McNulty

IF OVER The Edge were a person, it would now be eligible to vote and legally drink alcohol. This month, the literary reading series celebrates its 18th birthday with readings from Kathryn Slattery, Ciaran O’Rourke, and Stephen McNulty.

Over The Edge takes place on Zoom on Thursday January 21 at 6.30pm (local Galway time ) with Susan Millar DuMars as MC. There will be an online birthday party throughout, and even possibly a birthday cake.

Kathryn Slattery was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up in Mississippi. She now lives in Ireland with her husband. Her poetry and prose have been published in ROPES, Nightingale and Sparrow, The Siren’s Call, the Planet in Peril Anthology, The Blue Nib, Impspired, The Wellington Street Review, Analogies and Allegories, and Streetcake. Her debut poetry collection will be published by Hedgehog Poetry Press in September.

Ciaran O’Rourke has won the Cúirt New Irish Writing Award, the Westport Poetry Prize, and the Fish Poetry Prize. His first collection, The Buried Breath, was published by Irish Pages Press in 2018 to considerable acclaim, and his second collection is due in 2021.

Stephen McNulty is a radiographer at University Hospital Galway. His poems have appeared in Boyne Berries, Drawn To the Light, ROPES, and Vox Galvia.

There will be an open-mic after the featured readers. New readers are welcome at the open-mic. Those interested in taking part should text Kevin Higgins on 087 - 6431748 or email [email protected] between 6pm and 6.30pm on the evening of the reading.
