The creation of thirty new jobs in Galway by Enterprise Ireland Companies is a huge boost for the West of Ireland, according to Senator for Roscommon-Galway, Aisling Dolan who is Seanad Spokesperson for Further & Higher Education, Science, Innovation and Research.
The roles are being created in three Enterprise Ireland supported companies that are based in Galway. Palliare, a medical device company, has hired 10 new employees in recent months. Flexwork company, Ronspot, intends to have a total of 10 new employees on board by Spring 2021, and has hired five people since September. Ronspot is a technology company which enables the flexible workplace between office and home. Venari Medical filled three new positions in October and have plans to recruit up to 10 new employees in the coming months.
The jobs are in high growth areas, according to Fine Gael Senator Aisling Dolan.

Senator Dolan added that Venari Medical is a real success story; “Venari Medical have developed a non-invasive solution for chronic venous diseases such as venous leg ulcers which affects up to one in four people worldwide. The success story of Venari Medical from Galway shows the importance of world-class research at third-level in Engineering & Medicine closely linked with healthcare professionals and with Technology Transfer expertise at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology and NUI Galway. This company is now based at GMIT Innovation Hubs supporting start-ups. Investment in research and innovation is paying off in jobs for the West.”
She also congratulated Pallaire on their announcement; “The Palliare team has amazing MedTech experience as a spin-out from Crospon a West of Ireland gastro-diagnostic company. Their solution targets safer operating rooms for healthcare professionals such as Endotrap which prevents exposure to airborne particles during endoscopic procedures. Palliare also succeeded in winning Horizon 2020 funds to further develop these solutions.”
Senator Dolan concluded that the jobs are a vote of confidence in graduates in the West.
“It shows that the dynamic MedTech research in the West has a strong ecosystem with third level underpinned by Enterprise Ireland and the seed capital investment support from the Western Development Commission.”
