The "mean-spirited" ban on music and dancing at weddings urgent try needs to be reviewed by the Government, according to Sinn Féin Galway West TD, Mairead Farrell.
The recent decision by the Government and Fáilte Ireland to ban music and dancing at weddings has caused "extreme disappointment" for many couples, who, Dep Farrell said, have already made "huge sacrifices", such as cutting guest lists and changing venues in order to comply with public health regulations.

Dep Farrell called the ban "mean-spirited" and pointed out that it was not stated in the Government's regulations and "has only subsequently been decided" on by the Minister for Health, the Minister for Tourism, and Fáilte Ireland.
“The public health restrictions are already very specific and restraining - 25 people only at a wedding - so this is a strange decision," she said. “This matter should be reviewed by the government so couples can have some sort of music and dancing at their weddings in a safe and secure way.”
