The historic outdoor courtyard through the arch of Áras na nGael on Dominic St has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland in preparation for the arrival of Santa AKA Daidí na Nollag on Thursday December 10.
Not only is Santa able to fly around the world in a single night, but he is also a master of every language in the world, especially Irish and while he is in his temporary home on Dominic St, he is very much looking forward to chatting either as Gaeilge nó as Béarla to the children of Galway.
Family groups will be guided on a magical journey via a giant bauble, to a Christmas tree forest, home to a fairytale gingerbread house, which leads to Santa’s cabin, with fun and games with the elves along the way - try out your skill at catching a reindeer! Once the whole family has had a chat and taken their family photo and received a gift from Santa, they can warm up afterwards with seasonal hot drinks.
They invite you to immerse yourselves in this winter wonderland; marvel at the glittering lights, soak up the festive music, and lose yourselves in a world of colour, merriment and mirth this Christmas Season.
Starting December 10, tickets are on sale now for €15.00 for Children and from €8.00 for adults off-peak (Thursdays & Friday ) and €15 at peak times (Saturdays & Sunday ), infants go free from www.christmascrackers.ie
To book to meet Daidí na Nollag select that option when booking online. He will be available this weekend from 5pm to 8pm on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th and from 3pm to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th and subsequent time slots will be announced.
This experience runs within current COVID 19 regulations and is operated in a family group system which ensures that family pods do not intermingle. Staff and guests (aged 13 and over ) wear face coverings. Hand sanitiser is provided, queuing is minimised, contact tracing is assured and social distancing is built in, yes, even with Santa, but all in a stress free environment.
Off-peak hours for those with vulnerabilities and/or additional sensory requirements are available by direct appointment.
