A special one hour concert of beautiful songs to bring hope and heart to everyone during current Covid-19 level five restrictions will be broadcast live from Corrandulla Church on Sunday November 11 from 7pm to 8pm.
Presented by Irish Soprano Sara Gerdine, with one of the most beautiful voices from the west coast of Ireland, it is hoped the event will raise vitally needed funds for Cancer Care West.
Organisers say that at a time when access to the arts and culture are limited, this is a rare opportunity for people to take time away from everyday life and enjoy the talent of this graduate of the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
Her repetoire is expected to include a variety of music, including classical, folk and hymns.
In choosing the title ‘Whispering Hope’ Sara says: “Hope is the flickering flame that is ever present and whispers to us in our time of need. We hope this event will fan those flames for many people around the country at this difficult time.”
She will be joined by her husband Caleb, also a talented musician, and her father Liam Merrigan, a well-known local musician. The event will be broadcast live on the Annaghdown/Corrandulla Parish Facebook page.
In choosing Cancer Care West as the recipients of all funds raised, Sara Gerdine speaks with first hand knowledge of the work it is doing to support people with cancer on the west coast of Ireland.
“My father was diagnosed with lung cancer last year, and so he is well aware of all the great work that Cancer Care West does. As a family, we are hugely appreciative of its services and how it provides hope to many in a time of need.”
