Man dies after fishing boat got into difficulty in Galway Bay

One man has died after a fishing boat got into difficulty in Galway Bay this afternoon.

Galway RNLI Lifeboat was called to assist the crew of the local fishing boat which got into difficulty.

The alarm was raised at lunchtime by a man on board the boat which was located at the time between Blackrock and Silverstrand.

The Irish Coastguard tasked Galway lifeboat to the scene and upon arrival the lifeboat crew took a man on board and brought him back to Galway Docks from where he was transported by ambulance to University Hospital Galway.

The lifeboat crew on this call out were Helmsman Martin Oliver, Brian Niland, Lisa McDonagh and Declan Killilea.
