O’Donnellan & Joyce combines live auction with digital bidding in high-tech October auction

O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers is staying ahead of the pandemic by keeping its staff and buyers safe throughout its October auction campaign. Having launched on October 1, the 30-plus catalogue of properties has attracted great attention from across the country and indeed abroad. The digital catalogue can be accessed any time from anywhere. With a wide variety of properties available on both the west coast and the east coast, the auction team have been busy over the past weeks organising property viewings that comply with regulations for the health and safety of all involved.

These properties are coming for sale in the live stream property auction which takes place on Friday October 30 and are available to view strictly by appointment only. Prospective buyers should contact the auctioneers to arrange a viewing and are reminded that masks must be worn and all attendees will be required to sanitise on entering and exiting the property. Only one viewing party will be permitted to enter the property at any time, while the auctioneer will stand clear but be available to answer any questions .

The auction will be streamed on the O’Donnellan & Joyce website and social media platforms and will combine phone, internet, and proxy bidding with the live auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan on the podium accepting remote bids. There will be no audience permitted to attend the auction and all bidders must register in advance through the company website. Legal packs and further information will be sent digitally via email or WhatsApp from the auction team in the Mary Street offices and from those working from home.

Senior Partner Colm O’Donnellan said: “We have invested considerable time and funds in ensuring that our property auctions can continue to achieve the results that our vendors desire. We have a great team, ever improving digital systems, and a great catalogue of properties available. The buyers are still inquiring in their hundreds by the day and we have sold an average of 1.4 homes per day since we reopened on June 8. We are confident that our methods are bulletproof and this virus will not get the better of our business due to the precautions we have taken.”

The new auction format was rolled out for the September auction and with more 160 bidders pre-registered for the auction, the property sale boasted some superb results. With an 80 per cent success rate from the auction room, the company is now approaching 90 per cent thanks to its post auction sales where the highest bidder on any lot that fails to meet the reserve price is allowed time after the auction to do a deal with the vendor. With over €4.1 million in property sales and additional properties closing day on day from the September catalogue, these results are a great indicator that the property market is still fully operational and auction sales are achieving very strong prices for property vendors.

Mary Fahy, senior sales agent with O’Donnellan & Joyce, commented: “We have a great selection of properties available from all over the country. We have superb homes available in Galway and right across the country and into Dublin. We have a beautifully appointed apartment in Dublin 9 and some terraced homes in Kildare. Also available are a number of properties throughout Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, and some additional late entries in Meath, Laois, and Carlow.

The nationwide reach of our auction campaigns means that we can offer a great variety of properties for sale within the same catalogue which really appeals to the property investors. There is something to suit every budget and taste within this catalogue and viewing is recommended. Don’t forget that you must also register in advance to bid at the auction. Check out our website for more details.”

Registration for remote bidding at the auction is available on www.odonnjoyce.com. Those looking to purchase will need to complete the registration form and lodge a €4,500 booking deposit prior to auction day. Further details about the process can be obtained by contacting the auction team on [email protected] or calling the Mary Street office on 091 564 212.
