Celebrating 50 years in business, The Galway Advertiser prides itself on bringing the people of Galway their local and community news in both print and online.
Our ‘Best Things in Life are Free’ Photography Competition encouraged our readers to share with us their photos of the things in life they love to enjoy, in beautiful County Galway.
The competition was launched on World Photography Day, August 19th, and ran until 17th September.
With over 600 competition entries, choosing the winner, was a very difficult task. You can view all the entries by searching the hashtag #GalwayFree on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Congratulations to Chaosheng Zhang with his stunning photo of the sunrise on the Long Walk. NUIG Senior Lecturer of Geography and Archaeology, Dr Chaosheng Zhang is also a self-proclaimed photography ‘amateur’. His passion for photography came from taking photos of his children when they were small. He began posting photos on social media in 2017, and has gained over a thousand followers since.
