This feasibility report has been completed and is being considered by the HSE nationally. The project will progress to the planning permission stage once the project has been approved nationally.
In parallel, the design of the enabling works for the site is progressing and are proceeding with the both Winter ED works to create a green stream ED as part of COVID planning preparations and also the commencement of construction of the Temporary ED as one of the enabling projects.
Development now a top priority
Saolta officials told the forum that the development is one of the top priorities for them. In relation to the Radiation Oncology Facility, this project has been included in the HSE 2020 Capital Programme and has been granted Capital Allocation in 2020.
The tender for the building contractor has been awarded and site works commenced on September 7. The construction is to be completed by 2022 and a further period of time is required for the commissioning of the equipment.
