After much consideration Renmore Pantomime Society has made the difficult decision to cancel its 2020/2021 production. It was hoped that restrictions currently in place would be eased at this time but unfortunately this is not the case.
As it is currently unlikely that there will be any change in the near future the Society had to make a decision based on the current guidelines. At the moment it is only possible to have 50 people in the theatre auditorium.
This includes cast, audience and theatre staff. As Renmore Pantomime can typically have over 50 in the cast alone, it would be necessary to radically change the concept of the Pantomime in order to meet these requirements.
Renmore Pantomime is about people - the production team, the cast on stage, the musicians and singers in the orchestra pit, the crew behind stage, the front of house team and most importantly the audience.
It is the interaction between all these groups that make Renmore Pantomime what it is, while bringing entertainment to the thousands that attend each year.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported our society to date. Our sponsors, vendors, society members and most importantly you, the public, who come year after year to see our shows,” they said in a statement to the Advertiser this week.
“We would encourage our Society friends to continue supporting our sponsors. Details of our sponsors are listed on our website www.renmorepantomime.com This is only the second time in more than 40 years that Renmore Pantomime has not produced an annual Pantomime.
“While we are extremely disappointed that we have had to make this decision, we do feel that the safety of our members and our patrons is a priority.
“We are looking forward to getting back on stage in Dec ‘21/Jan ‘22 when we can welcome all our members and patrons back to the Town Hall Theatre,” the statement concluded.
