COMEDY RETURNS to the Róisín Dubh as the award winning venue reopens its doors on Tuesday, and what better way to get the ball rolling than with the Comedy KARLnival with Karl Spain and friends?
Performing on stage will be Micky Bartlett (BBC NI The Blame Game ) and Saoirse Smith, and joining on the big screen via Zoom, will be Reginald D Hunter. The show is on Tuesday September 8.
Engaging, brutally honest, and provocative, Reginald D Hunter is one of the few performers to have been nominated for the prestigious main Perrier Award in three consecutive years. As The Times said, "A masterful, playful comic…Hunter gets more into his 50-minutes than some comics manage in their career”. His BBC2 series Reginald D Hunter’s Songs Of The South, which documented the growth of American popular song, and the follow-up, Songs Of The Border, were highly acclaimed.Micky Bartlett, one of Northern Ireland’s fastest rising stars, is a regular on BBC NI shows The Blame Game and Monumental. He supported Patrick Kielty in 2012 and in 2014 made his Edinburgh Fringe debut. Adam Hills called him "consistently funny" and added, "in years to come, people will be talking about the first time they saw Micky Bartlett”.Dublin based Saoirse Smith, has been dubbed “the funny woman on wheels". She has always had a good sense of humor about her disability and brings that onto the stage, with her own style of self deprecating humor based on her life experiences.
The MC will be Karl Spain. Doors are at 8pm. Comedy starts at 9pm. Tickets are €25 per person (€100 for table of four ) and includes dinner and the show. Booking is via www.roisindubh.net Social distancing and government guidelines will be observed. Face mask to be worn upon entry and exit.
