Learn to paint with Don Conroy at The Lodge at Ashford

Artist and national treasure Don Conroy will be at The Lodge at Ashford this October to host a weekend painting workshop.

From October 2 to 4, guests can learn how to paint or improve on existing artistic skills under the expert tutelage of the lockdown YouTube star in the beautiful surrounds of the award-winning Lodge at Ashford on the 350-acre Ashford Castle estate.

Prices for a two-night B&B break, including a drinks reception hosted by Don Conroy, dinner each evening, plus the weekend painting tutorial, range from €765 for two people sharing a de luxe room, to €1,257 for two adults and two children under 12 years in a suite. Prices and room choice are subject to availability at time of booking.

Guests will enjoy two dinners in the Lodge prepared by executive head chef Jonathan Keane and his team. Chef Keane believes in sourcing local and only serving seasonal produce - a philosophy that has earned him many awards.

Don Conroy, who was a regular guest on RTE’s The Den in the eighties and nineties, delighted the nation once again during the recent lockdown with the timely launch of his Draw with Don YouTube channel. A working artist, writer, television presenter, naturalist, and environmentalist, he will bring a rich tapestry of creativity, skill, and fun to guests attending this special weekend break.

The two workshops will be hosted in Wilde’s Restaurant at The Lodge, offering stunning views across Lough Corrib, which is sure to inspire the group of budding artists. All guests will be provided with the requisite materials for creating their masterpieces, which will be a lasting memory of their break. Early booking is recommended as spaces are limited for this opportunity to learn from the best.

For guests who wish to build on their getaway, there are myriad activities to enjoy on the estate including horse-riding, fishing, zip-lining, cycling, and Ireland’s first school of falconry.

The Lodge at Ashford, along with Ashford Castle, is the first hotel in Ireland to be awarded the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC ) STAR™ accreditation, for the implementation of rigorous protocols in response to biorisk situations, such as Covid-19.

The international accreditation verifies that both Ashford Castle and The Lodge implement best practices to prepare for, respond to, and recover from pandemics, ensuring that the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention are employed.
