A new union has been launched in Galway describing itself as a new voice to improve the city and county
Community Action Tenants Union (CATU ) states it will fight for the betterment of the community and its residents; particularly tenants, renters, and those living in precarious conditions.
In a statement released on Tuesday CATU said; "The committee that has been created is for the city and county of Galway, with plans to directly engage with the public on the issues raised and how they want them developed.
"The public are encouraged to join up to get a wide representation of all the stakeholders in the community. To join the union and find out more, please go to https://catuireland.org."
The union has wasted no time in calling for more bin facilities in the city and has taken aim at Fine Gael councillor Eddie Hoare's suggestion of installing sprinklers at the Spanish Arch.
"We shall be imminently launching a campaign to fight for more bin facilities in the Galway area. It has recently been suggested by Cllr Eddie Hoare that sprinklers be installed at Spanish Arch in order to prevent littering. We reject this ridiculous suggestion and instead believe that it is the responsibility of the council to not only provide bin facilities at Spanish Arch but throughout the general Galway area."
