Engage Art Studios to re-open

Salthill based studios and gallery to host exhibition by Galway artist Tadhg Ó Cuirrín

AFTER ALMOST six months of being closed, Engage Art Studios in Churchfields, Salthill, re-opens on Friday August 28 with a solo exhibition by Galway artist Tadhg Ó Cuirrín.

The opening event will take place from 4pm to 8pm on August 28. In line with public health guidelines, face masks are to be worn, and only six people at a time will be allowed into the gallery at 30 minute intervals to allow for physical distancing. Advanced booking is advised, but not required, via [email protected].

Ó Cuirrín's exhibition, Everyone, everybody, every person, every person, every person, every person, addresses how we communicate with one another, or fail to do so, at a personal level and as participants in a society. It asks, can we find a way to communicate that allows us to meet the challenges which face us? Or do we retreat into cynicism, resentment, comfort, consumption, conspiracy and blame?

.

Comprising elements of painting, print, video and karaoke, the exhibition also touches on a number of other themes including; dreams, conspiracy theories, holidays and travel, loneliness, and environmentalism.

Tadhg Ó Cuirrín is an artist and teacher currently based in Galway. He received an honours degree in Fine Art, Painting from the Limerick School of Art and Design in 2009. He works in a variety of media, and has worked for a number of Irish artist-run spaces and organisations in the past.
