Bard Yard to host Belfast poet Elizabeth McGeown

Galway's online poetry open mic returns for August reading

BELFAST POET Elizabeth McGeown, a four time finalist in the All-Ireland Poetry Slam, will read at this week's Bard Yard, Galway's new, online, poetry open mic event.

McGeown will be reading on Wednesday August 19 at 8pm live via Facebook.com/bardyardgalway The event is hosted by Claire VanValkenburg and Conor Quinlan.

McGeown's work has been published in Banshee, Boyne Berries, and Abridged. She has toured Scotland and represented Northern Ireland at the 2019 Hammer & Tongue UK Slam Finals in the Royal Albert Hall, London. She is currently working on her first full-length show with funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and The National Lottery.

Bard yard combines a list of poets who sign up on the day with performances by a featured artist. The event has showcased local musicians Sinead Ann, Bríd Kenny, and Echo Harte, as well as Dublin poet Beau Williams.
