An "urgent review" of paths and walkways around the city is needed with many paths in a "bad state of repair", according to a local councillor.
Fianna Fáil Galway City East councillor, Alan Cheevers, has called on the Galway City Council to carry out such a review after receiving numerous representations from people who fell or were hurt due to falls along paths.
"This is an issue," he said. "Just this week I received news that a pensioner who had a fall on Saturday, resulted in a broken hip and a broken shoulder. We need an urgent review on this issue, especially for the elderly and people with disabilities, so they are safe when they are out."
