City councillors must be given a full report, with audited figures, of all costs and expenses since the Galway 2020 process started.
This is the view of Fianna Fáil Galway City East councillor, Alan Cheevers [pictured below], who said the €18 million overall spend figure given to councillors last week, lacked the detail elected members wanted. "We want a detailed breakdown on how it was spent," he said.

Cllr Cheevers stressed that he was not "questioning the integrity of the board of Galway 2020", but that it was important that the "general public, the taxpayer, and the people of Galway" know exactly how the money was spent.
"The figure spent by the Galway City Council alone was in the region of €5.2 million," he said. "This is a substantial amount when many areas of the city is struggling for proper services and infrastructure. A full report needs to be published sooner, rather than later, as the Government are now releasing a further €5 Million for the project."
