O’Donnellan & Joyce to place thirty eight properties under the auction hammer tomorrow

The auction team at O’Donnellan & Joyce, 5 Mary Street, Galway have been busy this week adding the finishing touches to their nationwide property auction which takes place tomorrow, Friday, at 12 noon in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, when 38 properties go under the auction hammer.

This auction signals that the property market really has reopened, and the pending results should give a true reflection of activity within the property market currently.

Property viewings have been extremely busy across the country with the firm reporting more than 150 viewers at one Galway city property which was on show eight times over the past four weeks. Bearing Covid-19 social distancing measures in mind, the company offered its feature ‘open viewings’ across the auction catalogue with a slightly different approach. With set times advertised for each of the 38 properties, viewers were required to register in advance with the office for an appointment to view any particular property. The response was huge and no property suffered a lack of viewers over the course of the auction campaign.

Starting at 12 noon tomorrow, the O’Donnellan & Joyce property auction will take in the JB Keane suite of the Harbour Hotel with strict Covid-19 safety measures in place. Bidders are invited to register to attend the auction in person or register in advance to bid over the phone, internet, or by proxy bidding. A live stream will also be available to watch on www.odonnjoyce.com or through the company's social media pages. The 38 lot auction will be divided into seven sessions with bidders for each lot invited inside the auction room during their specific session only.

Spectators are invited to watch the auction from the comfort of their own home, but given the safety measures in place and given the huge number of bidders already pre-registered, no spectators will be permitted to enter the hotel on the day. The O’Donnellan & Joyce and Harbour Hotel staff thank everyone for their co-operation and understanding. The safety and wellbeing of staff and bidders is of high importance and those attending the auction in person will be asked to sign a Covid-19 health declaration stating that they have not suffered any symptoms of the virus, have not been in contact with any known cases, and have not travelled to an area with high rates of infection.

For those who wish to bid remotely, a registration form is available on the O’Donnellan & Joyce website (www.odonnjoyce.com ). A bidding fee and a booking deposit must be paid in advance and contracts will be signed on behalf of successful bidders at the auction once power of attorney is signed over.

For those who wish to attend the auction in person, note your lot number and session order listed below. Only those bidding on a property within the current session will be permitted to enter the auction room. Those waiting for their session and lot number to come up will be asked to wait in the main foyer or bar of the hotel. Once a session is completed, the auctioneer will pause briefly while bidders exit the auction room through to the bar area and the bidders for the next session find their seats.

O’Donnellan & Joyce expects a large turnout at the hotel and wish to remind intending bidders to complete their bidding registration with the auction team prior to auction day. Face masks and gloves are advised. Social distancing measures will be in place in the auction room, waiting rooms, and main foyer.

If you have any questions, the O’Donnellan & Joyce auction team are available via telephone at 091 564212, or via email at [email protected].
