Galway Chamber wins ‘Most Successful Policy Campaign’ at Chamber Awards 2020

Chamber plan addresses transport, climate change, business, and infrastructure concerns

Galway Chamber has won the Most Successful Policy Campaign title at the Chambers Ireland annual Chamber Awards, for its Get Galway Moving campaign.

Get Galway Moving highlights priority areas for the city which need development over the coming years. It calls for improvement to transport infrastructure and reduction in traffic congestion; climate change and increased use of Green Energy throughout Galway; making Galway "the best place in Ireland in which to live, learn work and to visit"; increase the city's attractiveness for international, national, and local businesses; and for policy decisions on Galway’s immediate environment to be made in Galway by those accountable to its people.

The campaign was launched in Leinster House last September led by Dave Hickey, outgoing President of Galway Chamber and Elaine Brick, Chair of the Galway Chamber Transport Sub-Committee. Since then it has received support and endorsement of political and business leaders.

"We are all seeking change to the way we move about our city," said Kenny Deery, CEO of Galway Chamber. "While this campaign will run for years, we are delighted that this work is recognised at a national level by Chambers Ireland."
