More than €500k approved in business continuity vouchers

An east Galway TD has welcomed confirmation that more than €571,000 has been approved in business continuity vouchers for the county between March and June.

Minister for the Diaspora and International Development Ciaran Cannon said this comes in addition to more than €255,000 in approvals for trading online vouchers which he says are vital supports to the county’s business sector in responding to the economic effects of the pandemic.

Minister Cannon said; “I’m very pleased that Minister Heather Humphreys has recently confirmed that between March 16 and June 10 2020, some €571,000 has been approved in business continuity vouchers for the county. These vouchers with a value up to €2500 towards third party consultancy costs have been made available to businesses employing up to 50 staff to assist with developing short-term and long-term strategies to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I’m also pleased to see the support given to our county’s businesses in enhancing their online capacity with over €255,000 approved in trading online vouchers for the same period. These figures will increase, of course, as more applications are approved and these are vital supports to our county’s business sector in responding to the economic effects of the pandemic.”
