June Hope - Eoin Dolan releases new EP

Galway singer-songwriters channels John Lennon, French pop, and calypso to 'keep faith there'll be better days ahead'

THERE IS a long way to go yet, and a recession to be endured, but the easing of restrictions and our gradual emergence from lockdown is a cause for hope.

It is a sense that underlies the title of the new EP by the outstanding Galway indie-pop singer-songwriter and producer, Eoin Dolan, June Hope - Dolan’s most personal record to date, and which was recorded at his home during the last two months of lockdown.

Inspired by early John Lennon solo material, 1960s French pop, and vintage calypso compilations, June Hope charts a journey from youth to young adulthood through the prism of seasonal change.

“Winters are fairly dark in the west of Ireland," says Eoin about the new EP. "What keeps you going are thoughts of a fresh spring and the warmth of a summer sun. I wanted to make a record that would capture that feeling. If you're going to believe in anything, keep faith that there'll always be better days ahead.”
