THE OVER The Edge readings are back! Covid-19 has prevented the city's popular literary institution from taking place in the city library, but Digital technology is facilitating its return next month.
The poets Quincy R Lehr and Matthew Caley, along with the novelist Maeve Galvin, will read from their works at the Over The Edge: Open Reading on Zoom on Thursday, June 11 from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Quincy R Lehr describes himself as "a butt-scratching imbecile with bad personal hygiene”, but in his review of Lehr's 2015 book, The Dark Lord Of The Tiki Bar, Kevin Higgins describes him as a "witty, unashamedly intellectual, voice...one of his most striking talents is his ability to use swear words with a style so immaculate even your grandmother would, in the end, have to agree that no other word would be appropriate".
Since his debut Thirst in 1999 was nominated for The Forward Prize for Best First Collection Award, Matthew Caley has published five more collections, with last year's Trawlerman’s Turquoise being the most recent. He has taught poetry/creative writing at The University of Winchester, The School of English, St Andrews University, Scotland, and The Poetry School, London.
From Bray, Maeve Galvin worked as an international development worker across the United Nations and non-profit organisations for a decade. She is the author of the novel, The Saviours (Merdog Books ).
