A rave on the airwaves

An Taobh Tuathail's Cian Ó Cíobháin seeks listeners suggestions for his on air 'house party'

WHEN CIAN Ó Cíobháin marked 21 years on air for his alternative/underground music show An Taobh Tuathail on Raidió na Gaeltachta recently, he felt like it was a community coming together to celebrate on the airwaves.

This planted a seed, and Cian has decided he wants to bring us together again, this time for a few house parties during the summer - but over the radio of course as social distancing will be with us for a while yet.

“I wish to bring a series of special editions of the show to the airwaves, on the first Friday of each month, from my house to yours," says Cian. "I have a few themes in mind, but am open to your suggestions for potential future editions. So if you have any ideas, hit me up.”

.

The first such ATT house party - Cóisir Tí ATT - will be on Friday June 5 from 10pm to 12 midnight. The theme is: It is the first rave post-lockdown. You are the DJ and want to hit the audience with a cathartic tune that will release months of pent-up tension and frustration. Which house or techno tune - a bonafide banger, something euphoric and emotional, or a stone-cold classic - are you going to spin?

Listeners can send their suggestions to [email protected] or via Cian's social media. Requests must be in before 1pm on the Thursday preceding each show and songs should be under six minutes.
