The Moycullen Bypass is on course to commence later this year. Tender documents are almost complete and pre-qualification for contractors will take place in June.
It is expected that tender documents will be issued to a shortlist of contractors later in the summer with construction expected to start later this year. The final business case under consideration by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
The bypass is part of Project Ireland 2040. As a capital project, final approval for the bypass will rest with the new government when it is in place.
The news has been welcomed by the Government Chief Whip and Fine Gael Senator, Seán Kyne, who said the bypass, along with the Connemara Greenway and Bus Connects, is "essential for improving transport and mobility" in Moycullen, and more widely in Connemara.
