Residents in Doughiska and Roscam have set up a What’s App Group of volunteers to be help get groceries or prescriptions to elderly and/or vulnerable people in the community.
The move has been welcomed by Fianna Fáil Galway City East councillor, Alan Cheevers, who said it was "important we help" those in the "who may need support" in the midst of the outbreak of Covid 19.
"If we can be on the end of the phone for an elderly neighbour, to provide support, in any way, that is essential," he said. "It’s vital we show all our community spirit and show our support at this time."
