Fantasy Football round 29 preview

In association with Monroes

Liverpool have been beaten. Yes, the runaway league leaders finally suffered their first Premier League defeat as they were humbled 3-0 by relegation threatened Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening.

Elsewhere the top four chasers all dropped points with Leicester City and Spurs losing to Norwich City and Wolves respectively and Chelsea and Man United drawing their away ties with Bournemouth and Everton.

The final whistles at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Goodison Park brought the conclusion of February, which means it is time to the name the Advertiser Tribal League's Manager of the Month in association with Monroe's Tavern.

Manager of the Month: February

Drums rolls please, and our Manager of the Month for February is: John Garrett - Sporting Les - 270.

Yes, John Garrett and his charges were the top team in the month of February over three and half rounds of action. Sporting's star man was captain Mohamed Salah who picked up 56 points over four matches. Trent Alexander-Arnold (24 ), Anthony Martial (19 ), and Troy Deeney (19 ) also had excellent February performances. Currently sitting in 84th position, Garrett will be hoping for another great showing in March.

Congratulations to John who wins a matchday special burger or wings and a pint courtesy of Monroe's Tavern.

Top picks

And so we enter the final stretch. There is only 10 rounds left. Ten rounds for Fantasy managers to negotiate. Ten rounds to decide who will be the champion of the Tribal League. So let's look at the players who will get the job done this weekend.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton - £6.4 million ) v Chelsea

I find it difficult to believe how Everton's number nine is not one of the first names down on Fantasy manager's team sheets. His third minute strike against Man United at Goodison Park on Sunday made it 10 goals in 13 league appearances for the 22-year-old front man. On Sunday, The Toffees travel to SW6 to take on Chelsea. The Blues are definitely in a sticky patch form wise with only two wins from eight matches since the turn of the year. Even more worrying for Frank Lampard's men is their inability to keep the ball out of their net - only five clean sheets from 28 matches does not make for good reading especially for a side chasing Champions League qualification. I'm expecting a 1-1 draw with Calvert-Lewin to make his mark on the scorecard. Get him in your team.

Diogo Jota (Wolves - £6.3 million ) v Brighton

Having gone eight league without a goal, Diogo Jota has found his scoring boots with three goals in his last two league outings, as well as a hat-trick in the first leg of Wolves Europa League clash against Espanyol. Jota is playing in a more advanced position this season acting as more of an attack partner for Raúl Jiménez rather than a supporting midfielder. On Saturday, Wolves host Brighton. The Seagulls are desperate for points as they hover one point above the relegation zone, thanks to an eight game winless streak. Wolves are tearing into everything in their path and Brighton will be easy prey in the Black Country. Wolves to win 3-0 with Jota to score.

Marcus Alonso (Chelsea - £6 million ) v Everton

Awful going backwards but brilliant going forwards, I believe Marcus Alonso is worth the punt this weekend. The tall left back has scored three goals in his last two league games and as one of Chelsea's dead ball specialists, he always has a chance of getting his name on the score sheet. In one of the worst defences in the league, Alonso will not be getting many defensive points but against Everton this Sunday, I think he will garner points for Fantasy managers thanks to his attacking brilliance.
