Emman Idama: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs

Comedian to tell his story of immigration, being a minority, the pull of faith, and dyslexia

NO BLACKS, No Dogs, No Irish - once that was a sign that appeared on boarding houses in Britain, and now it serves - in a slightly altered fashion - as the title of the new show by Emman Idama.

Irish-Nigerian comedian Emman Idama, described by Chortle.co.uk as "a warm, charming and thoroughly engaging performer", will perform No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs on Friday March 13 at the Róisín Dubh at 8pm.

In this show, Idama will guide the audience through his own journey of moving from Nigeria to Ireland at the age of six; struggling with making friends; being the only black child in a small Irish town; his mother being Christian and his father being Muslim, and their attempts to win his soul for their respective faiths; and finding out he has dyslexia at the age of 27.

Tickets are €12 from the Roisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; and OMG@Zhivago.
