Another weekend and another round of Premier League games completed. Frank Lampard's Chelsea secured a valuable win over Spurs in the race for fourth spot. The match was marred by VAR controversy as Giovani Lo Celso was inexplicably allowed to stay on the field after raking his studs down Cesar Azpilicueta's leg.
Elsewhere Man City defeated Leicester, Arsenal beat Everton in a 3-2 thriller, and of course, Liverpool won again to leave their four victories away from a first league title in 30 years. Let's see how the action affected the top three in the Advertiser Tribal League in association with Monroe's Tavern.
Top three
1 Declan Ryan - Decs Villains - 1,653
In order to stay atop of the Tribal League, just as Instagram fitness models say, consistency is key and the most consistent performer in the league for the past few weeks is Declan Ryan and his Villains. The Villains had another big weekend securing 71 Fantasy points and it is fair to say it was quite the all round team performance. Captain Mohamed Salah (14 ), Sadio Mané (8 ), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (13 ), and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (6 ) all found the back of the net, Nick Pope and Jack Stephens secured clean sheets, and Trent Alexander-Arnold provided two assists. The Villains are setting the standard at the moment. Can any team match it?
2 Will Mooney - The Kouyaté Kid - 1,644
Is there any side that can stop Decs Villains? At present The Kouyaté Kid can claim to as they went two better and garnered 73 Fantasy points at the weekend. Captain Mohamed Salah (14 ), Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (13 ), Trent Alexander-Arnold (10 ), and Romain Saïss (11 ) all put in big performances for manager Will Mooney. Riyad Mahrez, Andrew Robertson, and Raúl Jiménez provided good support bringing home 17 points among them. One area of weakness which is concern for Mooney is at the back where they are still conceding goals. Tighten up at the back and The Kids can reel in the nine point difference that separates them and top spot.
3 Damien Ruigrok - Flying Dutchmen - 1,619
Making their debut in the top three are Flying Dutchmen. Damien Ruigrok's men brought home 62 points at the weekend thanks to a good all round team effort. Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and Charlie Taylor provided shutouts, and captain Mohamed Salah, Anthony Martial, and Raúl Jiménez all registered goals. The Dutchmen are a long way back at this stage of the season but one huge weekend can change the course of this title race.
Top picks
Matej Vydra (Burnley - £5.3 million ) v Newcastle
The Czech forward went 18 months without a goal before troubling the goalscorers at St Mary's during Burnley's 2-1 victory and of course, once he got one, the second followed quickly with a goal against Bournemouth on Saturday. The Clarets travel to Newcastle this weekend and the Magpies are struggling for form. One win in their last nine league plus 17 goals conceded does not make great reading for manager Steve Bruce. With the wind in their sails, I believe Burnley will take the three points with Vydra to get himself on the scoresheet.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton - £6.2 million ) v Man United
The 22-year-old striker is England's top striker at present and if a squad was being picked for the Euros tomorrow, he would be in it. Although Calvert-Lewin ended up on the losing side against Arsenal, the Sheffield born footballer scored once again to take his tally to nine goals in 12 league outings. On Sunday, The Toffees host in form Man United at Goodison Park. The Red Devils have won their last three games in the league without conceding, however, even the most ardent United supporter would admit that their goal has remained intact thanks to a bit of luck and awful finishing from the opposition. I believe United goalie David De Gea will be beaten on Sunday and the man to do it will be Calvert-Lewin.
Robert Snodgrass (West Ham - £5.2 million ) v Southampton
If West Ham are to survive the drop, Scotland international Robert Snodgrass will be crucial to their chances. The winger is coming into form at the right time for Hammers, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the last three league matches. Saturday's clash with Southampton at the London Stadium is a must win for West Ham - it is as simple as that. I feel their showing at the champions elect, Liverpool, on Monday night, West Ham have the desire and more importantly, the quality to get out of this quagmire. I am going for a West Ham win with Snodgrass scoring.
