Gardai probe city centre assault

Gardai are looking for witnesses to an assault which took place in the city centre earlier this week, which led to a man being hospitalised.

On Monday morning at approximately 1am, a man was assaulted by another man outside McDonalds restaurant on Shop Street, Galway.

The victim suffered facial injuries as a result of the assault and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

Meanwhile, gardai are seeking help in catching the thieves who broke into a van at Sandy Road earlier this month. The incident took place between 11pm on Sunday February 9 and 5am on Monday 10, when a White Toyota Van was broken into at Glen Na Tra, Sandy Road.

A number of items were taken from the vehicle, including a Silver Hewlett Packard Laptop, a pair of Black Nike Air Max runners, a pair of Black Topman boots, a Black Nike gym bag and a brown leather Barely bag. Anyone who may have witnessed anybody acting suspiciously in the area or anybody who may have been offered any of these items for sale is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.
