Celebrate International Women’s Day with a seasonal spring lunch for Self Help Africa

Paul and Mary Grealish of The King’s Head Bistro in Galway’s Latin Quarter, together with Ronan Scully of Self Help Africa, are hosting a special International Women’s Day lunch in aid of Self Help Africa on Sunday March 8.

The special three-course lunch will take place from 12.30pm until 2.30pm and will be a celebration of fresh spring ingredients, showcasing some of the best of Galway’s food producers.

Dr Mary Corbett, Self Help Africa’s head nutritionist, is a leader on gender equality and has worked in the developing world for more than 30 years. She will speak at the lunch, sharing her experiences and stories of women who are doing great work to make their families’ lives better in some of the poorest regions in Africa. Additional speakers to be announced closer to the date.

“This is the third year in a row that we are hosting the International Women’s Day charity lunch and it has become a tradition we really look forward to,” said Mary Grealish of The King’s Head Bistro. “It is a lovely way to mark International Women’s Day, taking the time to have a special lunch with the important women in your life while also supporting the vital work Self Help Africa is doing with its women and family projects which span 10 countries in Africa.”

The lunch is taking place in The King’s Head Bistro on International Women’s Day, Sunday March 8, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

Tickets are €40 per person and all are welcome. To book email The King’s Head Bistro at [email protected] or call 091 566 630; or email Ronan Scully at [email protected] or call 087 618 9094.

All proceeds will go to the charity to support women’s projects in Africa.
