Carvin Jones to bring the blues to Galway

US musician has been hailed as one of the 50 greatest blues guitarists of all-time by Guitarist magazine

CARVIN JONES can count two of the finest guitarists to ever play the instrument - Eric Clapton and Albert Collins - among his admirers, while Jimi Hendrix drummer Buddy Miles called him "the New King of Strings".

Carvin Jones, who was voted one of the 50 greatest blues guitarists of all-time by Guitarist magazine, will treat Galway to a night of blues when he plays the Róisín Dubh on Sunday February 2 at 8pm.

Texas born, Arizona raised, he was steeped in the blues since childhood, listening to his grandfather's BB King records, before taking up guitar at 11, and beginning his music career at the age of 19. Since then he has released 12 albums, and currently averages around 330 live performances a year. He has played across Europe, the Americas, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, and at many of the world's major blues and jazz festivals. In September 2016 he appeared on RTVE National Television in Spain which drew 20 million viewers, and earlier that year he played to 60,000 people in Valladolid.

He has shared the stage and toured with BB King, Santana, Jeff Beck, Albert King, Albert Collins, The Animals, REO Speedwagon, Jimmy Vaughan, and Double Trouble.
