Enya Martin headlines the Comedy KARLnival

Four women take to the stage of the Róisín Dubh

SHE IS a schoolteacher, she co-runs the PaddyShack Comedy Club in Galway, and this week she is the guest MC at the Comedy KARLnival in the Róisín Dubh.

Siobhan Brosnan from County Kerry, who has won notice for her dark humour and sharp observations, is taking over the MC duties for the show on Tuesday January 14 from Karl Spain - who is in Dubai at the McGettigan's Comedy Festival - which will feature sets from Enya Martin, Emma Doran, Saoirse Smith.

Enya Martin, comedian and creator of the Giz A Laugh Facebook page - which has notched up more than 60 million views - headlines. A Dublin native and former marketing executive, she has successfully made the transition from writing and creating hugely popular online videos to knocking them dead on the live comedy circuit.

Emma Doran has performed at Vicar St and the Olympia Theatre. She has also appeared on RTÉ’s Republic of Telly and Bridget and Eamon. Her stand up and sketches have been shared on the Daily Edge, Mummypages, SHEmazing, Broadsheet, Her.ie, Today FM, Newstalk, 2FM’s Breakfast Republic, and recently by Sarah Millican on the Standard Issue.

Dublin based Saoirse Smith has been dubbed “the funny woman on wheels" as she has always had a good sense of humour about her disability and brings that onto the stage, with her own style of self deprecating material based on her life experiences.

Doors are at 8pm. Tickets are €6 in advance from Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; or €8 at the door.
