Kevin Barry to launch Engage Studios winter programme

Salthill based studios to host an exhibition, workshops, in-conversation events, and live film and sound performances

KEVIN BARRY, the award-winning, Booker Prize nominated, Irish author of City Of Bohane, Beatlebone, and Night Boat To Tangier, will launch a new programme of events from the Engage Arts Studio in Salthill.

Engage's programme, involving an exhibition, workshops, in-conversation events, and live film and sound performances, will be launched by Barry tomorrow at 6pm in the Engage studios, Churchfields, Lower Salthill.

The event also sees the opening of Winter Papers, an experimental exhibition by artists Suzanne Walsh and Jonathan Brennan. Walsh uses performative lectures, audio/musical performances, and text to question ideas around human/non-human relationships. Brennan is interested in the relationship between digital and traditional techniques, and the values we impose on them.

The exhibition is named after the Irish arts anthology, Winter Papers, which features writing, photography, visual arts, interviews, and in-conversation pieces on writing, film, theatre, photography and music. It will be available for sale at events in Engage.

All are welcome to the launch. There will be refreshments by Cava Bodega. Gallery opening times are Thursdays to Saturdays from 11am to 4pm or by appointment. Admission is free. The exhibition runs until Saturday February 15. See engageartstudios.com
