Jazz gigs for the Halloween weekend

Three nights of music from some of Ireland's leading jazzers

FOR THE Halloween weekend, a series of jazz gigs, featuring leading Irish jazz musicians, takes place in the Black Gate Cultural Centre on St Francis Street.

Starting tonight [Thursday October 31], the opening gig is the 'Fancy Dress Jazz Party', starting at 9pm. The musicians playing will be Colm O' Hara (trombone ), Cathal Roche (saxophones ), Matthew Berrill (saxophone/clarinet ), Aengus Hackett (guitar ), Neil O' Loclainn (bass ), and Dan Walsh (drums ).

That same line-up will also play tomorrow at 9pm, but this show will explore New Orleans jazz, and on Saturday at 9pm, where they will be joined by vocalist Róisín Mulliez.

Tickets are €15 for each gig and are available from www.blackgate.ie or on the door.
