CLAY GALWAY, a group of 32 ceramic artists from Galway city and county, will hold its debut exhibition in Tribeton on Merchants Road, with the official opening being this evening [Thursday October 24] at 7pm.
This exhibition will showcase the group's diverse approach to clay by featuring decorative, functional, ceramic sculpture, and wall art. The group was founded in 2018 by Rob D'Eath, who explained its ethos:
"Clay is a multifaceted artistic material which has the potential to tell the stories of each and every individual who comes into creative contact with it," he said. "Enabling this process is the ultimate artistic purpose of Clay Galway. We also want to develop a vibrant culture of ceramics in Galway."

The participating artists are Juliet Ball, Carina Berger, Louise Browne, Mary Byrne, Elva Carroll, Walter Coughlan, Susi C Coveney, Rob D’Eath, Tatiana Dobos, Aoife Natsumi Frehan, Maeve Gallagher, Helen Griffin, Jed Gjerek, Fiona Halloran, Christine Coveney Homes, Andrew Howard, Tamaru Hunt-Joshi, Ness Porter Kelly, Michael Kennedy, Holly Mullarky, Lorna Murphy, Sinead O’Connell, Cormac O’Neill, Emma O’Toole, Owen Quinlan, Diane Reid, Rose Roccaforte, Veronika Straberger, Rachel Webb, Katharine West, and Martha Williamson.
The guest speaker at the launch will be city arts officer James Harrold. The show runs daily up to Wednesday October 30. Exhibition opening times are 12 noon to 6pm daily, except Saturday which is 10am to 6pm.
