Baboró ambassador — Anna Hartigan-Corbari

The 23rd Baboró International Arts Festival for Children is just around the corner and kicks off on Monday October 14 with 50 events over 7 days for children and families. Each year we feature individuals who are passionate about the festival. This week’s Baboró Ambassador is nine-year old Anna Hartigan-Corbari.

Anna goes to Galway’s Educate Together National School in Newcastle and is a member of Galway Community Circus. She has been attending the Baboró festival since she was 1. Anna has drawn inspiration from all the shows she has seen and loves putting on plays in the sitting room for her mum and her friends.

One of my favourite Baboró memories is...One of my favourite Baboró memories is watching Potato needs a Bath by Shona Reppe, a show I watched when I was very little. It was so long ago, I must have been , that I don’t remember much, but I know I laughed a lot!

Baboró is important for Galway because…I think Baboró is important for Galway children because they get to see lots of shows and do lots of workshops. It is good for creativity and fun and learning. And you have lots of choices depending on what you like! It is important for the parents also, to do something together with their children and see them happy.

I’m really looking forward to this year’s Baboró Festival because my mum’s show is in it! It’s called Nine Stories about Love and it is about nature and friendship. I can’t wait to see Baba Yaga with my class (3rd class 1, Galway Educate Together National School ), and to see other shows with my grandparents who come from Italy every year for Baboró Festival. I am also looking forward to seeing Hermit, even if I’m too old for that, but it looks really good in the programme! And I think Rockin’ Rhymes will be fun.

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children runs from 14 – 20 October. For full details see www.baboro.ie
