Galway and Donegal through a doctor's lens

The photography of Dr Michael Sugrue at University Hospital Galway.

THE PHOTOGRAPHY of Dr Michael Sugrue, featuring iconic Galway scenes and the Donegal landscape, are currently on display in the arts corridor of University Hospital Galway.

The exhibition, entitled Wild Atlantic Photographer - Through the Lens of Dr Michael Sugrue, features many photographs from his book, Donegal’s Atlantic Way. Dr Sugrue grew up in Galway and attended Colaiste Éinde. As a fifth year student he started the school’s photographic exploits by creating a darkroom. As an NUI Galway graduate he worked in UHG before moving to Australia. He returned to Ireland and has been, for the last 11 years, consultant breast surgeon at Letterkenny and Galway University Hospitals.

The exhibition is presented by Saolta Arts. It runs until Friday October 18.
