Book it!, Galway's new book festival for children is taking place this month, and will feature readings and events with Alan Durant, Catherine Doyle, Patricia Forde, Eric Kaeil, Patrick Ryan and Michael Smith.
Alan Durant, whose work ranges from picture books such as Burger Boy to thrillers for teenagers, will be the festival’s writer-in-residence. Other authors at the festival will be Caroline Busher, The Irish Times best-selling author of The Ghosts of Magnificent Children and The Girl Who Ate The Stars; and Michael Smith, a former member of British military intelligence, who is now a number one best-selling author of a wide variety of books on spies, explorers, and polar exploration.
Also reading will be Galway writers Catherine Doyle, author of the young adult trilogy Blood For Blood; Patricia Forde, whose latest novel, The Private Diary of Bumpfizzle the Best, is the Dublin UNESCO City of Literature children's choice for 2019; and Patrick Ryan, who has written for the BBC.
The festival runs throughout October, with events starting on Tuesday 8. For more information see festival Facebook page or check with your local library for event details.
