Although some minds may be trained on what is happening in the Far East, at Advertiser Towers we are concentrating on what is happening across the Irish Sea as the Premier League moves into its seventh round of matches, and we know that you want to know our top three in the Advertiser Tribal League in association with Monroe's Tavern.
1 Eamonn Gannon - Eggandgunian fc - 409
Top of the league and their having a laugh, Eggandgunian fc that is. Eamonn Gannon's men had another superb weekend, garnering 79 points. The main men for the Eggs were captain Kevin De Bruyne, midfield partner John McGinn, and frontman Roberto Firmino as they found the back of the net at the weekend. At the back keeper Nick Pope and Jamaal Lascelles provided Gannon with clean sheets as Eggandgunian fc moved into pole position. And the weekend could have been even better for the Eggs with Matt Ryan and Andrew Robertson picking up 18 points between them, being left on the bench. Who can stop Gannon's charges?
2 - Francis Fallon - FranapartesTeamsheet - 404
If the league leaders had a superb weekend then FranapartesTeamsheet had the dream weekend with 95 points secured. Francis Fallon's men were wonderful from back to front with special mentions for John Lundstram, Kevin De Bruyne, John McGinn, and Matt Ryan. Fallon seems to have found the perfect balance with a solid defence, a creative midfield, and a marquee striker. What Fallon may need to take FranapartesTeamsheet to the next level is more goals so another top striker will turn this team into serious challengers.
3 Greg Conneely - FC Twente Times - 401
In third spot and only eight points behind the league leaders is FC Twente Times. Managed by Greg Conneely, TT have a wonderful spine running through the side with Ryan Fredicks and Trent Alexander-Arnold at the back, Kevin De Bruyne in the middle, and Roberto Firmino and Chris Wood up top bringing home the bacon. Another quality midfielder and a commanding goalkeeper could see Twente Times be renamed Twente-One Times when the ribbons are put on the trophy come May.
Top picks
But those results are in the past and Saturday is a new round so who should you select to earn precious Fantasy points for the Advertiser Tribal League in association with Monroe's Tavern?
Kevin De Bruyne (Man City - £9.9 million ) v Everton
On his day, he is the best player in the Premier League in my opinion and recently the Belgian is always having a good day. De Bruyne ran riot last weekend against the hapless Hornets with a goal and two assists but he has had a cracking start to the season with two goals and seven assists so far. Obviously Pep Guardiola and Fantasy fans would love the midfielder to find the back of the net more often but when you are essentially guaranteed an assist a game, he has to be in your team. At the weekend the champions travel to Goodison Park where it is always a battle against Everton. The Toffees will give City a tough game but the Eastlands sides will win out with De Bruyne being the main man. Get him in your team.
Heung-Min Son (Spurs - £9.7 million ) v Southampton
The Korean had a slow start to the season. So slow that it did not start until the third game but an assist in the 2-2 at the Emirates against Arsenal seems to have kickstarted Son's campaign, as he bagged himself a brace the next week against Crystal Palace with an assist last weekend in the 2-1 defeat to Leicester. Spurs invite Southampton to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Saints have been hit or miss this term with two wins, a draw, and three losses. I can't see Ralph Hasenhüttl's men doing anything but lose on Saturday. I believe Son will be involved in the thick of it and he will get his name on the scoreboard.
Chris Wood (Burnley £6.2 million ) v Aston Villa
This is my wild card pick for the week. The Kiwi has not produced the goods this term firing blanks in his first five outings. But Wood finally broke his duck with a brace in the 2-0 victory over Norwich City at Turf Moor. On Saturday Burnley travel to another promoted side, Aston Villa, and I feel that with the monkey off his back Wood can and will exploit a Villa defence which has conceded nine goals to date.
