Galway Street Club - new single, Róisín gig

First single from forthcoming second album will be 'Black Widow Of Iron Mountain'

‘BLACK WIDOW of Iron Mountain’, the first single from Galway Street Club's forthcoming second album, will be released on Tuesday October 1, followed by a gig in the Róisín Dubh on Saturday 5 at 8pm.

Describing the new song, GSC vocalist/guitarist James Dillon, said it explores “that feeling of not being able to stay away from someone when you know they’re only trouble”. The song fuses a number of styles, a feat the band are very adept at. “We’ll play and write music in any style," said Dillon. "If we like how it sounds and its energy, then we aren’t afraid to share it.”

The band has also been highly critical of the new bylaws, recently passed by the Galway City Council, which place enormous restrictions on buskers performing in the city centre. However, they have been heartened by the level of public support they have received. "The reaction has been incredible," said Dillon, "but it has come at an interesting time for us. We should be very excited about releasing new music for the first time in over a year. Instead we have been left in this position of uncertainty and now we, along with so many others having to re-evaluate our entire lives."
