New book on a moment when an Irish city went Soviet

Dominic Haugh's The Limerick Soviet to be launched in Galway

The Limerick Soviet of 1919 was a brief period in Irish revolutionary and labour history when workers defied British colonialism and took power into their own hands.

It is now the subject of a new book, The Limerick Soviet by Limerick based historian and author Dominic Haugh, which will be officially launched in Galway this Thursday [September 19] at 6.30pm in the Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street. Mr Haugh will give a talk on the book's contents and sign copies.

The book is produced by The Socialist Party. Admission is free and all are welcome.
