INHALER, THE Dublin band fronted by Elijah Hewson, son of Bono and anti-nuclear campaigner Ali Hewson, play the Róisín Dubh on Thursday September 26 at 9pm.
The band - Hewson (vocals/guitar ), Josh Jenkinson (guitar ), Rob Keating (bass ), Ryan McMahon (drums ) - met at school in 2012; formed the band in 2016; released their debut single 'I Want You' in 2017 and saw Hotpress place them on its Hot for 2018 list; before completing their Leaving Cert last year.
After that it was rock'n'roll all the way, playing Indiependence and Electric Picnic; supporting The Coronas, Picturehouse, and The Academic; and playing their first British gigs, including supporting Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds in Manchester. Their most recent single, 'It Won’t Always Be Like This', came out in March.
Indeed, Noel Gallagher described Inhaler's music as "a bit like the Bunnymen and early U2, which is a surprise". The band themselves cite Mancunians The Stone Roses as a major influence.
And what does Bono think of the band? “My dad’s good when I want to see if a song is s***e or not. He will tell me straight away,” Hewson has said. “His old man does help us a bit but will definitely point out the hardships we might have to go through more than the positive things,” Keating added.
