Líadan to play The Crane

LÍADAN, THE all-female Irish trad group will play The Crane Bar, Sea Road, on Thursday April 23 at 9pm as part of their tour to promote their new album Casadh Na Taoide.

The band members come from Galway, Limerick, and Dublin. They are Síle Denvir (harpist ), Deirdre Chawke (piano/accordion ), Elaine Cormican (whistles ), Valerie Casey and Claire Dolan (fiddles ), and Catherine Clohessy (flute ).

Líadan have won numerous awards including Best Band at the 2005 Festival Interceltique in Lorient and Best Traditional Singing Group at the 2005 The Pan Celtic Festival in Tralee.

Casadh Na Taoide will be released on Saturday and Lúnasa’s Kevin Crawford has described it as “a truly outstanding record...rarely have I heard such exquisite and heartfelt vocal gems as found on Casadh Na Taoide”. Altan’s Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh said it is “a celebration of the music of the women of Ireland”.
