One man's journey along the Camino de Santiago

Despite being deaf and blind, Sven is determined to walk the 804km pilgrimage

SVEN IS blind and deaf, but undaunted. He is determined to walk the Camino de Santiago, the 804km pilgrimage/hike through France and northern Spain - a journey chronicled in the film, The World At Arm’s Length.

The World At Arm's Length will receive its premiere screening in the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday September 12 at 8pm, followed by a Q&A by The Camino Society Ireland.

In this documentary, we see that Sven's undertaking the Camino has been a lifelong dream. Unable to do it alone, he turns to those around him for support, and the unerring nature of human kindness shows itself when he is afforded the company of assistants.

The film explores people at their most vulnerable, hopeful, excited, and primal, through the experience of one man’s desire to conquer the demons within by taking on the world outside, even when success is far from guaranteed.
