About Brown Thomas Galway Event Charity Partners:
Croí: Croí’s mission is to prevent heart disease and stroke, save lives, empower and support families, communities and future generations to take control of their health and well-being. All proceeds donated to Croí will go towards our ‘Women at Heart’ campaign – an awareness campaign which targets women of all ages and highlights the fact that heart disease is not just a man’s disease. Women are six times more likely to die from heart disease and stroke than from breast cancer yet almost 90% of women are not aware of this fact. ‘Women at Heart’ aims to increase awareness of the risks, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease in women.
National Breast Cancer Research Institute: In Ireland, 1 in 9 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime with almost 3,000 cases diagnosed annually. The National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme at the Lambe Institute, NUI Galway. We know that breast cancer research has improved the diagnosis, treatments, and outcomes for those who develop the disease and the charity’s research funding continues to help outcomes for those who develop breast cancer.
Rosabel’s Rooms: Rosabel’s Rooms: In partnership with The Irish Hospice Foundation, the charity is facilitating the development of family-friendly bereavement suites in hospital emergency departments around Ireland, which will provide comfort and dignity for families following the loss of a loved one. Rosabel’s Room-to-Heal fund is providing direct financial support to families, when a child dies in Ireland. This Fund is helping bereaved parents and families to take time off work, pay for funeral costs etc. Rosabel's Room-to-Talk Program facilitates therapeutic supports to individuals, couples and families around Ireland who are impacted by child loss.
