Paula Gannon from Athlone was the winner of the coveted title of Hotel Meyrick Galway’s Most Stylish Lady Competition.
At a glamorous evening reception in the Parlour Lounge of Hotel Meyrick on Ladies' Day of the Galway Races, Paula Gannon was awarded a €1,000 voucher to spend in any of the Kilkenny stores in Ireland, along with a VIP hospitality package for the Dublin Horse Show.
The Most Stylish Gent won a helicopter trip with Executive Helicopters and a champagne dinner for two in Hotel Meyrick’s Gaslight restaurant.
A highlight of Galway’s Race Week, the stylish evening saw racegoers flocking from Ballybrit to the Hotel Meyrick where stylist and fashionista Courtney Smith joined them as a guest judge, along with Catwalk Modelling agency owner Mandy Maher, and model Mary Lee.
Courtney Smith said she was "overwhelmed with the amount of effort that everyone put in to impress us".
“I absolutely love visiting Galway and, on this occasion, to be judging the most stylish evening at Hotel Meyrick was fantastic. There was a standout winner for me who had exceptional style and I am delighted to have selected her tonight.”
Most Stylish Lady Paula Gannon was "totally shocked" with the win.
"I really was not expecting to win, there are so many beautiful outfits here tonight. I did put a lot of thought and time into my outfit, so thanks much to Courtney, Mandy and Mary for selecting me and to Hotel Meyrick for a wonderful evening.”
Patrick Murphy, new general manager of Hotel Meyrick added: “This was my first Galway Races Ladies' Day as general manager of the hotel. It has been an unbelievable evening. The atmosphere when the racegoers arrived from the racecourse was outstanding. The place was just full of energy and fun. And like Courtney, I too couldn’t get over the effort that went to all the outfits, especially the men. I didn’t know suits came in so many colours."
