Pete Higgins releases new album

Galway singer-songwriter contemplates fatherhood, choice, and the sea

PETE HIGGINS, the Galway singer-songwriter, has just released his new single, 'The Great Divide’, and his second full-length album Adrift In A Sea Of Apathy, with both available now on all major streaming services.

‘The Great Divide’ is a pulsing track, exploring the line between ‘wants’ and ‘needs’ in a world of overwhelming choice. The video for the song was shot along the coast in An Spidéal, and reflects the struggle of maintaining the perspective needed to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

An inspiration as potent to Higgins as any form of music is the Atlantic Ocean, close to his home in Galway. "The ebbs and flows of the tide share much with the ups and downs of life," he said, and it was a theme explored on his 2018 debut album Circadian Rhythm & Blues.

The sea is again a theme on his new album, but so is the experience of fatherhood. “Becoming a father casts the world in a new light," he said. "That monumental shift has a way of confirming some of your beliefs while other assumptions get re-examined.”
