The people of Headford will be on the hunt for mammals in the coming week.
Headford Environment Group is this week focusing on creatures of the furry kind.
Entitled ‘The Secret World of Small Mammals’, this event will be led by Ruth Hanniffy, a conservation biologist working with Vincent Wildlife Trust. Hanniffy will explain the role of mammals in a healthy ecosystem, show how to recognise signs of their presence, and highlight the wonders of the natural world on our doorstep.
This workshop, the fourth in a series of six, is on Saturday from at top of Sandybanks Lane (across from the car wash in Bridge Street ) at 10.30am to 1pm.
Mammals will also be the focus on July 10, when the group holds its annual bat walk with Dr Kate McAney. This event will take place at one of the best local habitats for bats, meeting at the church car park in Cong at 10pm. These are both free, family-friendly events, and all are welcome. accompanied by an adult.
