Grammy winning Pacific Boychoir Academy's debut Galway show

St Nicholas' to host the choir The New York Times said have abilities 'far beyond the reach of most children’s choirs'

THREE-TIME Grammy winning US choir, the Pacific Boychoir Academy, are making their debut tour to Ireland, and on the itinerary is a concert in St Nicholas' Collegiate Church this Saturday, July 6.

The concert will include sacred music; works by Tallis and Rachmaninoff; folk songs like 'The Parting Glass' and 'Shenandoah'; traditional African songs; and popular classics including 'Over The Rainbow' and George Harrison's 'Here Comes The Sun'. The conductor is Andrew Brown.

The New York Times said the Pacific's abilities are "far beyond the reach of most children’s choirs". They have performed with The Kronos Quartet, The Berkeley Symphony, The San Francisco Opera, and The Brazilian Symphony Orchestra. They regularly perform with the San Francisco Symphony, with which they have recorded Grammy winning albums.
